Josemar Gonzalez
Josemar Gonzalez is a multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, and creative strategist with over 15 years of experience across the nonprofit, arts, and creative sectors. Based in the border region between Tijuana and San Diego, his work spans film, photography, installation, and community storytelling — drawn to everyday encounters, the spaces people move through, and the quiet systems that surround them.
His creative practice brings deep expertise in project management, program development, organizational systems, and strategic operations to his work. He is the lead artist and facilitator for Who Watches Who, a counter surveillance fellowship and workshop series exploring surveillance as a social, political, and visual system — with attention to its impact on immigrant and border communities. He is also co-founder and director of BorderClick, a participatory art collective and digital living archive documenting transborder experiences through media arts and education. His work has been exhibited internationally and at institutions including the San Diego International Airport, MOPA San Diego, and Liberty Station. He is a recipient of an Established Artist Fellowship from the California Arts Council (2021–2022).
