The AjA Project is programming with City Heights Prep Charter for the first time this semester. CHCP is based in City Heights, and is made up of mostly immigrant and refugee youth. Teaching Artists Janel De La Torre and Anna Lynch are working with Karen Gruschow’s art class at CHPC, providing STEAM based sessions twice a week for four weeks. Students have learned the science of analogue photography through cyanotype workshops, expressed themselves through drawing, writing, and collage, and explored home and their future histories through the use of images and zoom backgrounds.
